Walt Weber joined the Muskegon Postal Service on May 14, 1960. Early in his career, he was scheduled to carry route 34 - Johnny Melema had the day off. There was a small business district in the 1000 block of Getty. Wally parked his car there, and walked around the area with a clip-board, making notes on the route. Some people saw him and called the police. Wally couldn't satisfy the police until they called W. B. Steele. Doc Steele lived at 1584 Jiroch in those days, near Hackly Hospital. This report is evidence that Wally will never live it 'down'.

Bert Vanderstrom was a clerk in the early 60's, and he was an officer in the CAP: the Civil Air Patrol. Bert equated his position to be the same as the Regular Military. We didn't. Bert was also bald, and one January day, after Bielinski had sent several of we sub-clerks out to the dock to unload a truck of magazines, Bert went to Al and complained about the cold air on his bald head.
Bielinski said, "Bert, you're an officer, and as such, I figured you'd know enough to put on a hat."
